Affordable Housing Development - New Construction
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 4,000
COMPLETED APRIL 2021

As interior designers, there’s nothing more wonderful than working with a client that allows you to push the envelope and explore new possibilities. We were charged with creating a new concept for Green Mills, one that was more industrial in nature but still provided the warm and welcoming environment present in our previous collaborations. To achieve this challenge, our design concept incorporates a variety of textures: steel inspired architecture, exposed brick, concrete wallcovering and lush botanicals.
At the entry, visitors are immediately greeted by a bright white sign announcing Midtown Lofts on a bed of variegated moss. Overhead, metal lights illuminate their path, responding to the flooring transition underfoot.
A public restroom is centrally located behind this focal wall while the rest of the space opens up to a large volume of space connecting both the community room and the game room upstairs. At both levels, various seating options allow people to gather in groups or have more intimate conversations. Large floor to ceiling windows stream light into this space, providing ample daylight. Overhead, nostalgic pendants suspend at varying heights, drawing your eyes upwards.
An exposed steel staircase with wood look porcelain treads provides access to the second level where the game room, media room and business center is located. Each of these spaces is identified by a different color. A dusty blue hue is in the media room, a deep green in the business center and warm grays make up the game room.
This development begins to fill a large gap for the community needs of Lakeland. It’s edgy earthiness creates the perfect backdrop for tenants to entertain family and friends.
