4 Tips to Defeat Isolation & Procrastination While WFH

Remote work is here to stay. Taking advantage of the important role technology is playing can help us stay in touch with our peers, while also remaining on task. Microsoft 365 provides a set of tools that support collaboration and communication, allowing us to stay current with company’s news and events.

Here are a few ways on how these tools can help reduce the feeling of isolation and manage the workload to help you stay current with your daily tasks.

1. Equip Remote Teams with the Right Tools

Collaboration is key to true teamwork and to keeping us on task. Microsoft Teams provides all the collaborative tools you and your team will need to stay productive, while providing a secure remote work environment.

You will be able to share documents and collaborate with 1 or more users, in or outside of your organization. You can easily engage others as much as you need to, as you work on different documents, projects, or just daily tasks.

2. Tracking Tasks Effectively

 Having a tool that can help you stay on task while working remotely will help prevent procrastination. Microsoft Planner allows you and your teams to keep track of daily and project tasks. With a user-friendly look and easy to use dashboard, you and your teams will be able to easily schedule, assign, and report on tasks.

You can use Planner as a single user or share it as part of a Channel in Teams, for added functionality and easy access.

3. Appreciate your Staff Frequently

 More than ever, it is important to ensure that employees feel appreciated and that their efforts are valued. Showing appreciation is one of the most important aspects to strengthening organizational culture and letting your remote workers know that they are not alone. When employees feel appreciated, they are happier and stay engaged and dedicated to their jobs.

Microsoft 365 allows you to appreciate your team members and peers through Teams or Yammer (a.k.a. Communities). Use a “#” to mention your team member or peer and congratulate a JOB WELL DONE!

4. Be Available and Connect with Your Team Frequently

 Working remotely reduces in person interaction and could bring a feeling of isolation to your team members and peers. Engage your team and stay connected using Teams on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Connect with your staff via chat, group call, or on a 1:1 basis. Download the Teams app on your phone to support your team and peers from anywhere at any time.
